Lenormand cards are fascinating fortune-telling cards named after the famous fortune teller Marie Anne Lenormand (1772-1843). Today we use the “small” Lenormand deck with a total of 36 cards, which contains a variety of spiritual messages and interpretations.
Originally, the Lenormand deck consisted of 54 cards and was only published two years after the death of Marie Anne Lenormand with 5 books. The books covered topics such as astrology, chiromancy and other forms of oracles. The cards of the large deck, also known as the astromythological deck, show images from Greek mythology, constellations, geomancy, 22 letters, 7 talismans, skat cards and flowers.
In 1850, the smaller Lenormand deck appeared with 36 cards, mostly designed in the Biedermeier style. Each card carries a basic meaning, and by combining the cards, more precise and profound interpretations can be obtained.
